Courses & Prerequisites

What is a 3D printing training course?

A 3D printing training course provides you with the knowledge to produce components, models, and functional designs using modern additive manufacturing processes. You will learn the entire process from digital design to the finished 3D-printed product. The Mach-3D Academy places emphasis on practical relevance, industrial quality, and the professional applicability of your skills.

The advanced training course is suitable for career changers, job seekers, soldiers in the German Armed Forces Career Service (BfD), technicians, designers, engineers, and anyone who wants to gain a foothold in industry or product development. You can start even without prior knowledge and will be trained step by step to become a 3D printing specialist.

You don't need a technical background or any experience in 3D printing. Basic computer skills are enough. Everything else—from the basics of CAD to complex technical designs—you will learn in the course.

No, the course is suitable for beginners. Technical understanding develops automatically during the training through the combination of theory, practice, and personal projects.

At the Mach 3D Academy, you will learn about FDM, SLA, and SLS as well as their industrial applications. You will discover how to optimize components constructively, aesthetically, and for manufacturability for each process.

We work with professional software such as Autodesk Fusion 360, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Lychee, PreForm, and other tools for design, simulation, and file preparation. You will become confident in handling CAD and slicing software.

Funding & Costs

The price depends on the scope of the respective modules. In many cases, you will incur no costs as the program is fully eligible for funding – including for job seekers, retraining, or professional reorientation.

Yes, all advanced training courses at the Mach 3D Academy are AZAV-certified. This means that the Employment Agency or the Job Center can cover up to 100 % of the costs through an education voucher.

Steps for funding: 1. Schedule a consultation appointment with the Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit) or Jobcenter. 2. Clarify your professional situation and eligibility for funding. 3. Receive the education voucher (Bildungsgutschein) (digitally or as a printout). 4. We will then take care of the complete registration for you.

Procedure

Depending on the course format, the advanced training generally lasts between 3 and 6 months full-time. The modules comprise several hundred instructional units and combine theory, software training, and practical work on 3D printers.

Parts of the training are conducted online, especially theoretical content and CAD training. For practical sessions, you work on-site at the Mach-3D Academy to get to know real machines and industrial materials.

Registration is easily done via the contact form, by phone, or by email. Afterwards, we conduct a brief consultation and support you until you receive your course confirmation and funding.

New start dates take place several times a year. You can find the current dates on the website or get them directly during a consultation.

The practical parts take place at the Mach-3D Academy in Altenholz near Kiel. Theory and CAD units can be partially completed online.

We enable you to catch up on content through recordings, additional dates, or personal support. Your learning success is our focus.

Conclusion

At the end of each module, you will work on a practical project or a constructive final assignment. The exam is practice-oriented, allowing you to demonstrate your knowledge directly on real objects. Upon successful completion, you will receive a recognized certificate.

Yes. The Mach-3D Academy certificate is officially recognized and valued in industry, development, and technical environments. It documents all modules, projects, and competencies.

The completion includes a detailed certificate, your practical projects, technical skills, CAD knowledge, and all 3D printing processes you have learned. With this, you can apply directly to companies.

Career

Typical professions are: 3D printing technician, additive manufacturing designer, prototyping specialist, production technician, model maker, workshop technician, or technical assistant in R&D departments. Many graduates work in mechanical engineering, medicine, product development, and Industry 4.0.

The starting salary is usually between €32,000 and €45,000 annually. With a specialization in design engineering or complex additive manufacturing, salaries of €50,000 and more are realistic. The demand for skilled professionals is growing continuously.

Yes. Additive manufacturing is one of the fastest-growing industries. Companies in medical technology, aerospace, mechanical engineering, and the automotive sector are urgently looking for qualified professionals. Further training in 3D printing significantly improves your career prospects.

Yes. We help you with your CV, portfolio, application documents, and preparation for interviews with companies from the 3D printing and manufacturing industry.
